Study finds change in people's perceptions

The London 2012 Paralympic Games led to greater confidence and less anxiety in talking about disability and disabled sport, a Bournemouth University (BU) study has found.
They found that viewers were genuinely surprised by how emotive and thrilling the Games were, and began to see sporting excellence rather than only the impairment.

Seven expert organisations sharing more than £12 million of Sport England funding -

£1.7 million two-year investment into the Women’s Sport and Fitness Foundation (WSFF) will help get more women involved in sport.

£1 million investment in the The Child Protection in Sport Unit will help more young people to enjoy sport safely. The Unit supports a wide range of sporting organisations with child protection advice and guidance.

The other organisations benefitting are: The English Federation of Disability Sport, SportsAid, Sporting Equals, sports coach UK, and SkillsActive UK.

Sport England boosts CPSU funding

Sport England has shown its commitment to putting children's welfare at the heart of sport by increasing its investment in the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU). It will provide £1 million to the CPSU over the next two years, alongside the funding awarded to 46 different sports to help more people take part.

The CPSU works to help achieve the NSPCC mission to end child abuse. Their mission: To build the capacity of sports to safeguard children and young people in and through sport and to enable sports organisations to lead the way in keeping children safe from harm.
