Community Games - 'Shine a Light'

To mark the achievements of Community Games across the country, a relay has been taking place, mirroring the route of the Olympic Torch in 2012.  In each location a volunteer who made a significant contribution to the Community Games has been recognised as that areas's "Shining Light". On 28th June, Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire had their moment outside the Transport Museum in Coventry.  Our "Shining Light" was Tim Rees from Foleshill Baptist Church, seen here being presented with his Jersey. The government is providing additional funding of £150 million per annum for academic years 2013 to 2014 and 2014 to 2015 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - will be allocated to primary school headteachers.
This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
